I've been meaning to make some more eyes for ages. I use these for most of my character faces as it makes life a lot easier to have a ready made eye around which you pipe the face. If you have some spare white, black and blue/brown icing it's worth making some to store away for future use.

Elsa's nose job! New video tutorial on royal icing noses!
My oven is sparkly clean, I have more dough to make (and the recipe to tweak which is always fun), but I took time out to add the finishing touches to my latest creation... finally... I bring you The Head of Elsa! Just call me Frankencat.

Olaf from Frozen Cookie Tutorial
This is the first of several posts showing how I make cookies with characters from Disney's Frozen. These were party favours of Olaf's face. The second part features Princesses Anna and Elsa cookies and this later post is a tutorial for creating royal icing eyes.
To start with I flooded the cookies with a cool blue colour, and while still wet, sprayed with silver from a low angle, so that the sheen was off set. I've been using hexagons for these sorts of cookies a lot as I love the shape and how they fit together, and straight sided shapes are a lot easier to outline and flood than circles.
